NOCHURN VS CHURNKEY
Churnkey alternative: NoChurn vs Churnkey
Churnkey is a mature retention platform with broad billing support and an open-source SDK. NoChurn is a newer, flat-priced option for Stripe and API-based billing, with every feature on every plan.
- PRICEBy MRR, flatFree until $300 MRR, then from $9 a month.
- PLANSEvery feature on every planNo feature tiers, the free plan included.
- FEESNever a cutNo percentage of the revenue we recover.
Churnkey is one of the best-known retention tools for subscription businesses. It covers cancel flows, failed payment recovery and reactivation, and it works with several billing systems. NoChurn covers the same three jobs for teams on Stripe, or on any billing system through a REST API, with one flat price that depends only on your MRR.
This page compares the two as of November 2026, based on Churnkey’s public pages. If something has changed since, the sources at the bottom are the place to check.

Where Churnkey is a good fit
Churnkey has been around for years and it shows in the breadth of the product. A few cases where it is a strong choice:
- You want billing integrations with years of production behind them. Churnkey lists native support for Chargebee, Maxio, Paddle and Braintree and has run them for years. NoChurn supports these platforms too, but it is newer.
- You want a React component you can drop in. Churnkey’s SDK is open source and offers a ready-made cancel flow component, a headless hook and a core state machine.
- You run many experiments on recovery emails. A/B testing is part of their payment recovery tooling.
- Your churned revenue is small relative to your MRR. Because Churnkey prices on churned revenue rather than total revenue, a business with high MRR and very low churn may find the math works in its favor.
Where NoChurn is different
Price follows your size, not your churn. NoChurn is free until $300 MRR, then from $9/month, in small steps up to $399/month at $500k MRR. Above that, we quote. Your bill does not go up in a bad churn month, and it is easy to forecast. See pricing.
Every feature on every plan. There are no feature tiers. The free plan has the same cancel flows, recovery emails, win-back, custom data and API as Scale.
Never a cut of recovered revenue. We do not charge a percentage of what we recover, now or later.
Stripe in one click, or any billing through the API. If you are not on Stripe, you keep your own billing and send subscriptions, payments and cancellations to the REST API. Retries and card updates depend on what your billing system lets you do; the cancel flow, emails, scoring and win-back work the same.
Headless and MCP for writing integrations. The cancel flow can be our hosted modal (themes, fonts, colors, logo, custom CSS) or fully headless: you fetch reasons and offers from the API and render them in your own web, desktop, iOS or Android UI. Our MCP server lets a coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor wire NoChurn into your app, webhooks and custom data. See headless and MCP.
Churn score at signup. Every new customer gets a 0 to 100 score based on payment method, signup source and your custom data. Prepaid and disposable virtual cards score as high risk, neobank cards as medium, and Stripe Link, wallets, bank cards and SEPA as low; the levels adjust to your own history. If a customer removes their card before renewal, NoChurn raises the score and starts a save flow before the payment fails. See churn score.
Click-to-cancel built in. A one-click “cancel now” stays visible on every step of the flow. Offers are shown, never forced.
Churn drivers from your own data. Send any customer attribute or usage event by API, batch, CSV or SDK. Statistics computed in code show which attributes go with churn, with sample size and confidence, and the AI explains the results and suggests actions. Correlation, not cause.
NoChurn is new. We have no customer results to show yet, and Churnkey has years of production use. Weigh that honestly.
Switching from Churnkey
There is no automated import from Churnkey, so plan a short, controlled switch:
- Connect Stripe. It takes a few minutes with Stripe Connect. Follow the quickstart.
- Recreate your cancel reasons and offers. List your current reasons and the offer tied to each, then set them up in NoChurn. Offers map to Stripe coupons, pauses, downgrades or a call booking.
- Rewrite your emails, or let the AI draft them. Recovery emails go out on days 0, 3, 7 and 14 by default, in the customer’s language, and you review them before they send.
- Run both during a test period. For example, send a share of cancel clicks to the NoChurn flow and keep the rest on Churnkey. For failed payments, make sure only one tool emails a given customer, so nobody gets two sequences.
- Compare and decide. Look at save rate, recovered payments and complaints for the same period, then turn one off.
Keep in mind that Churnkey prices are fixed for 12 months on their side; check your renewal date before you switch.
How NoChurn helps
NoChurn recovers failed payments with smart retries and AI-written emails, keeps cancelling customers with an honest, reason-based flow, and wins back churned ones at 30, 60 and 90 days. It costs a flat amount based on your MRR, with every feature included. Start with failed payments, the cancel flow or the pricing page, or read cancel flow best practices.
